Kate Middleton, Prince William mourn the death of Deborah James

Prince William and Kate Middleton said: "Deborah was an inspirational and downright brave woman whose legacy will live on forever."


The Duke of Cambridge is deeply saddened to hear the heartbreaking news about Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, Dame Deborah, who has passed away at the age of 40.

The royal couple tweeted on their official Twitter handle: "We are deeply saddened to hear the heartbreaking news about Dame Deborah. Our condolences are with her children, her family and her loved ones."

He continued, “Deborah was an inspirational and downright brave woman whose legacy will live on forever. Welcome."

The family of podcast host and cancer campaigner Deborah announced Wednesday that she had died "peacefully... surrounded by her family."

In May, the day after Queen Elizabeth approved the damehood for Deborah James, Prince William visited her and handed over the medal.

Taking to Twitter, Deborah shared several photos with the Duke and wrote, "That time when @KensingtonRoyal came over tea to give me my damehood! REAL."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also praised him on Twitter, days before the Queen approved the damehood.
