University of Texas Announces Course on the Works of Harry Styles, 'It's Official'

The college curriculum will focus on the work of Harry Styles, including albums, films, and former band One Direction

A university in Texas is offering students the chance to study the life and works of pop music icon Harry Styles as part of the first college curriculum dedicated to the former One Direction star.

The former British pop star has earned the honor after being declared a cultural icon in recent years.

The exciting course, titled Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity: Identity, the Internet and European Pop Culture, will be offered at Texas State University Honors College beginning Spring 2023.

While the 28-year-old Watermelon Sugar singer has undoubtedly become a global superstar in recent years, she is not the first singer to have dedicated a university course to her success.

Celebrity-themed varsity courses feature Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Jay Z and stars including Kanye West and The Beatles.

Meanwhile, the As It Was Hit-Makers University course will focus on his work in both music and film. Dr Louis Dean Valencia announced the news on Twitter on Wednesday, saying it was the first course of its kind.

"It's official, official. I'm the world's first varsity course on the work of Harry Styles. It's happening spring 2023 at @TXST University. What does that tenure look like. Let's go," he said.
