Meghan Markle refuses to 'reconcile' with father over 'unrealistic' Charles request

Meghan Markle has refused to mend her rift with father Thomas Markle, even after Prince Charles insisted.

The Duchess of Sussex's relationship with her father was placed under scrutiny in the lead-up to her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, when Thomas slammed the royal family and the couple for 'old' traditions.

Now, in her new book, royal writer Bower claims the Queen and Charles were confused about Meghan's rift with her father, and wanted her to reconcile.

In an excerpt from Bower's book shared by The Sun, the author claimed the Duke of Sussex told Charles that Meghan had not contacted her father because his phone was compromised.

Charles was irritated by the excuse that he 'sacked' Harry, with Bower saying: "Charles never really understood Meghan or what she wanted."

"That week, her irritation about Thomas Markle's TV appearance, particularly her criticism of the royal family, came to a head. 'Can't she just go and see him and stop it?'" Charles reportedly said. But asked Harry.

Bower continued: "The discrepancies in Meghan's excuse not only upset Charles but probably the Queen as well."
