Prince Harry and Meghan spend big bucks on security after divorce from royal life

The security provision was one of the major issues for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when they announced they were stepping down as working royals and moved to the US to lead financially independent lives.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed they had arranged for privately funded security after then-President Donald Trump said the US would not pay for their security.

Harry later told chat show host Oprah Winfrey that he was paying for private security through secured deals with Netflix and Spotify.

Prince Harry and Meghan could potentially pay a hefty fee out of their own pocket for top-tier security in Britain, according to a royal expert.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could be charged a whopping £100k (134,891) a year for their protection as the couple are no longer members of the official working royal family.

According to a top security expert, Harry and Meghan may have to pay up to £100k on personal security.

Richard Aich, Director of Operations at Mobius International Security, told Us Weekly: "It is very difficult to put a figure on this at all. The cost of a personal security officer for the Metropolitan Police has been estimated to be around £100,000 a year."

Fans and experts are speculating that Prince Harry will not take his wife Meghan and children Archie and Lillibet to visit the Queen and the rest of the firm until their battle for proper security is won.

There are also questions as to how the Sussexes will afford such hefty sums of money for their personal security in the US and UK if they lose their deals and other multimillion-dollar projects.

The expert also added that "not all members of the Royal Family get protection," apart from the senior royal family. Harry's decision to step back from his senior responsibilities complicates the issue of security.

However, Aich acknowledged the potential dangers Harry and his family could face since stepping away from the royal spotlight.
