Elon Musk furiously claims 'almost anyone' can spend $100k to go to Mars

Elon Musk talks about his ambition to send one million people to Mars by 2025

Elon Musk has sparked massive outrage on social media after the world's richest man claimed that 'almost anyone' could save up to $100,000 to be able to go to Mars.

During his recent conversation with TED's Chris Anderson on Saturday (released last night), the SpaceX founder said, "If the cost of going to Mars is...$100,000, I think almost any work." Could do and save and eventually have $100,000 and be able to. They can go to Mars if they want."

"We want to make it available to everyone who wants to go," he said, referring to his ambition to send one million people to Mars by 2025.

The Tesla mogul previously made a similar claim in 2019, when he responded to a tweet by writing, "Very dependent on quantity, but I believe going to Mars (return ticket is free) costs a day." Will be under $500k and maybe even below $100k.

"So little that most people in advanced economies can sell their home on Earth and move to Mars if they so desire," he wrote.
